課程概述 |
自1980年代以來，原本以壟斷態勢盤踞社會科學家對宗教之想像的世俗化理論，面臨一連串來自世界各地、驟然湧現的宗教復振或政教共震之現象的挑戰，原本穩固的典範地位被動搖繼而摧毀之際，隨之而來的是來自各學科的學者──包括經濟學、政治學、心理學、歷史學，社會學及人類學──重新探索「宗教」概念及想像如何交織在現代性的世界歷史推演之中、宗教作為一制度在現代社會之位置，以及世俗與神聖的界線。他們跨學科、多元方法的努力，將視野擴展到西方／基督教／宗教組織及菁英的傳統研究範圍以外。這不但讓新世紀的宗教研究創意迸射，同時也刺激著廣義的文化分析乃至社會理論的建構。本課程所選讀的多本名著（可狹義歸類來自社會學、人類學、後殖民歷史研究、政治哲學等），就是這股思潮中最具代表性且對經驗研究有所啟發及反思的。通過本課程，期待修課同學能掌握宗教社會學最近研究趨勢，我們從幾個最重要的主題中挑選三大項目：(1) 宗教研究新取徑 (2) 全球伊斯蘭信仰及東亞 (3) 歐美基督宗教反思。每個項目挑選四至五本書閱讀。 |

課程目標 |
透過仔細閱讀、批判性書寫及相互討論，本課程希望(1)介紹宗教理論前沿的發展，(2)深化同學對於廣義文化分析及社會理論的思考，(3)做為一個身在宗教如此多樣及有活力的台灣人，思考如何用嶄新的問題意識及研究架構，研究廿一世紀紛陳殊異的宗教現象。我也希望通過本課程，增進學生在讀英文文獻時的效率及掌握文本之重點的能力，因此，原則上每一周的閱讀頁數為80頁左右，實際的份量可視文本難易或同學適應的程度再做修改。

在第一堂課時，每位決定修課或旁聽的同學，必須分配每週閱讀的文獻，並在該週課堂上簡要地向大家報告該文獻內容（每份文獻原則上約30分鐘）。報告同學要能準確掌握文本，提供簡潔明瞭的書面摘要及口頭課堂介紹。 |

請每位修課同學在閱讀指定文獻後，撰寫一份500-1500字的讀書心得，說明文獻精采之處及令你不滿意的地方。你可以指出作者推理上疏漏之處或視角上的盲點，或以相關的時事及經驗現象挑戰作者的說法，也可以運用已讀過之其他作者的論點來協助你的論證。能運用最少的字數直指文章的重點及缺憾者最佳。在memo的最後，請再提供與文獻相關的一個討論問題。請每位修課同學，將此心得於上課前一天（週三）晚上八點以前，寄到所有參與課程者。 |

期末報告：你可以應用本學期所學之理論，選擇一個群體研究其信仰，或研究某特定宗教團體，文章結構應包括問題意識、文獻回顧、討論及分析、結論、參考文獻（請參考《台灣社會學》的格式），有一手資料最佳，若無亦可使用二手資料。期末報告的繳交時限為1/20中午12點。
回應老師提問：我根據第二部分及第三部分的讀物，將提出一些問題供同學做take home exam。
